Innovation Centre

Where ideas are made possible

Our Marine Robotics Innovation Centre sits at the intersection between business and science.

It’s here that we unite industries to bring to life the next generation of marine autonomous technology.

Based in Southampton, NOC Innovations hosts a community of creative companies committed to developing technology for platforms, components and sub-systems. Our goal, always, is to support and advance marine innovation for the benefit of both the scientific and commercial worlds.

Marine Robotics Innovation Centre

The home of scientific progress

The Innovation Centre was created and developed into a world-class facility following UKRI’s £3.5 million investment in The National Oceanography Centre.

With a range of specialist engineering and testing facilities, along with our scientists’ and technicians’ industry-leading expertise, we accommodate and enhance the advancement of marine autonomous system (MAS) technologies.

The community, utilising the Innovation Centre’s suite of services, share the specialised space with the NOC Marine Autonomous & Robotics Systems team, who have unrivalled experience in developing and deploying MAS and other equipment in the most challenging of ocean environments.

The Hub

The Hub is the Marine Robotics Innovation Centre’s main workspace. It’s specially designed to be adaptable and multi-functional.

At its heart is a 317m² open-plan office space, which acts as a catalyst for collaborative engagement and marine innovation between enterprises and with the National Oceanography Centre on a daily basis.

This state-of-the-art, fully-serviced facility includes communal space and meeting areas for informal idea sharing, networking and support.

If necessary, these spaces can be transformed to host formal meetings and Presentations.

We have smaller and more private spaces, offices and meeting rooms too, for those working on commercially sensitive projects. You can focus on your work in one of our three soundproof meeting pods, or chair a meeting in one of our fully-furnished meeting rooms, which come with video conferencing software and AV equipment.

The Hub also hosts a regular programme of networking and workshop events for you to enjoy, so come along. Say hi.
