My research interests span applied statistics, numerical simulation of weather and climate and earth observation. I am interested in long term variability of the climate, including the representation of extremes in observations and simulations. My research in this area has covered sea state (ocean surface waves), precipitation and tropical cyclones. I also have an interest in uncertainty in large datasets, and uncertainty linked to input variability in numerical simulations. My previous research includes the generation of large numerical climate ensembles and the use of applied statistics and machine learning methods to perform uncertainty analysis.
I currently work predominantly on the analysis of observations of sea state from satellite remote sensing.
