7 July 2015 – A workshop at the National Oceanography Centre, in support of a bid to establish a Centre for Doctoral Training in the use of smart and autonomous observation for the environmental sciences (CDT Autonomy)
11.00 am in the Access Grid Room, NOC
The bid is intended to attract both NERC funding, and a range of funding and in-kind contributions from industry. The bid is being proposed by a consortium comprising the National Oceanography Centre, the University of Southampton, University of East Anglia, Heriot-Watt University, British Antarctic Survey, and the Scottish Association for Marine Science.
Industry companies will have the opportunity to support the bid, and engage with the activities of the proposed CDT Autonomy, by means of companies offering:
- Funding to sponsor PhD students to develop research, specific to company requirements
- Resources, facilities and expertise, relevant to the activities of the CDT Autonomy
- Secondment opportunities for PhD students, focusing on activities relevant to the company
We would be delighted if you would join us for the workshop on 7 July.
In advance of the workshop, please consider the nature and level of support you would like to contribute to the CDT Autonomy, and the benefits that the CDT in Autonomy can bring to your company. As a result of the workshop we will be encouraging interested companies to specify their proposed commitment to the CDT Autonomy, by writing a ‘letter of support’, which will be included in the bid proposal.
