The National Oceanography Centre is saddened to learn of the passing away of Kostas Nittis of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research in Greece, a former chair of the European Marine Board and the Secretary General of the EuroGOOS network.
Kostas was a very talented person, a great ambassador for marine science and an advocate for European cooperation in observing our seas and oceans. As a community we will miss his inspiration, his guidance and his dedication. We extend our condolences to his family and to his many colleagues at HCMR and across the marine science community.
