MATS is an event that has collaboration at its heart and provides cutting-edge insight into the latest pioneering developments in technology and innovation within the marine autonomy field

The National Oceanography Centre (NOC) has announced the opening of registration for this year’s Marine Autonomy and Technology Showcase (MATS), taking place from Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 November at NOC in Southampton.

MATS has proudly grown over the last decade to become one of the foremost events in the marine technology calendar, attracting presenters and delegates from around the world. This year’s event will feature an elite programme of exhibits, presentations, panel discussions and networking, offering a unique and valuable opportunity to discover the latest developments in marine autonomous technology and how this field is set to develop in the years to come. MATS also provides a platform for organisations to engage directly with NOC to explore opportunities around funding, sharing ideas and getting those ideas in front of influential, high-profile users from the marine and maritime sector.

MATS will feature a broad range of expert speakers from across industry, academia and government organisations and will shine a spotlight on four select themes relating to marine autonomous technology. The latest innovations and emerging technologies within the sector will be examined through themes concerning Robotics and Remote Data Collection, Autonomous Platforms (the Next Generation and Supporting Technology), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the Maritime World, and finally The Blue Economy, Sustainability and Future Marine Research Infrastructure. MATS provides the ideal forum for exploring emerging technologies in these fields as well as the numerous challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Huw Gullick, Managing Director of NOC Innovations, said: “After the huge success of last year’s event, I am delighted that we are hosting MATS 2024 once again in our iconic dockside marquee. MATS is an event that has collaboration at its heart and provides cutting-edge insight into the latest pioneering developments in technology and innovation within the marine autonomy field. I am always fascinated to look at how marine technologies have developed over the past year, and to look forward at how they will continue to progress and tackle some of the biggest challenges of our time. In addition, this will be our 10th MATS and whether you are joining us for the first time or are an event regular, we are looking forward to celebrating the occasion with you”.

The full programme and session chairs will be announced in the coming weeks.
