Researchers have reported on a project that aims to help with the conservation of a critically endangered European seabird.
The project, led by the National Oceanography Centre (NOC), tracks the migration routes and feeding patterns of the Balearic Shearwater, a seabird associated with Mediterranean and Atlantic coastal waters. The results will be used to inform targeted conservation measures for this critically endangered seabird.
The article, written by Dr Russell Wynn and the 2012–3 Project Shearwater team, is published on the BirdGuides website, and can be accessed here http://birdguides.com/webzine/article.asp?a=3925.
Dr Wynn heads NOC’s Marine Geoscience research group.
The team consists of researchers from the National Oceanography Centre, University of Oxford, British Geological Survey, RSPB, and Skua SLP, Mallorca.
