Europe’s biggest showcase for marine technology, knowledge exchange, training and careers information will bring more than 5,000 visitors from 60 countries around the world to Southampton’s waterfront this week.
20 November 2012 – The 2012 Proudman Lecture will be given by Prof. Reiner Rummel from Technische Universität München, entitled “Gravity from space, the geoid and the ocean”
The lecture will be held in the Halsall Room, Foresight Centre, 1 Brownlow Street, Liverpool, beginning promptly at 14.00 on Tuesday 20 November.
An organisation representing operators of the world’s scientific research ship fleet holds its landmark 25th annual meeting in Southampton later this month.
The International Research Ship Operators (IRSO) meeting takes place at the Southampton waterfront headquarters of the UK’s National Oceanography Centre from Wednesday 17 to Friday 19 October.
The National Oceanography Centre has played host to an international meeting of more than 60 experts working in the fields of earthquakes, sea level, risk assessment, tsunami warning systems and civil protection.
Developments in the use of autonomous underwater vehicles for science and industry are the subject of an international conference which takes place in Southampton next month (September 2012) – the first time the event has been held in the United Kingdom.
Professor Sir David King, former Government Chief Scientific Adviser and newly appointed Chair of the NOC Advisory Council, joined ITN’s Health and Science Editor, Lawrence McGinty, and leading scientists from NOC and the University of Liverpool to discuss the latest research on climate change earlier this month.
