The Graduate School of the National Oceanography Centre Southampton (GSNOCS) is a centre of excellence. We are large, international, scientifically diverse and genuinely interdisciplinary with more than 200 PhD students with backgrounds in Geochemistry, Geology and Geophysics, Marine Biology and Ecology, Marine Biogeochemistry, Physical Oceanography, Palaeoceanography and Palaeoclimate and Coastal Engineering.

Our Liverpool site has firm links with the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Liverpool.
NOC Liverpool has a renowned international reputation for shelf sea dynamics and modelling. It is situated in purpose-built premises, adjacent to the School of Environmental Sciences of the University of Liverpool. Located on the same site is the British Oceanographic Data Centre, a national facility for storing and distributing data concerning the marine environment. This close relationship is ideal for postgraduate study and research, and students benefit greatly from studying in an environment attached to a World Class oceanography centre.
Postgraduate research projects at NOC Liverpool are partnered with university departments all over the UK. These diverse relationships ensure specialist supervisory expertise and training are available for postgraduate students.
